South West Community Care has taken out the WA Aged Care Provider of the year award. Considered a quiet achiever, South West Community Care has been operating for over 30 years and provides age care services to people in their own homes right throughout the south west of W.A. The organisation started life as a tiny operation in the town of Harvey, staffed by volunteers and serving about 50 clients. It has evolved into a large organisation employing 150 people and servicing more than 1000 clients across an area stretching from Waroona to Capel. CEO Claire Roach said it was absolutely fantastic to have the organisation recognised by Aged Care Services Australia (ACSA) – the peak body for aged care in Australia. “Our organisation has evolved over time” said Ms Roach, “and we are proud to provide the best possible service for clients in their homes. We have also worked hard to establish a positive workplace culture and make South West Community Care an employer of choice”. South West Community Care prides itself in being a truly local organisation with area offices in Australind and Eaton. The head office is located in a rural setting on the banks of the Harvey river at the Eden Grove Community Precinct. “We are so fortunate to have a base like Eden Grove in the south west, it really is a hidden gem.” Ms Roach, who has been the CEO of South West Community Care for the last 14 years accepted the ACSA aged care provider of the year award on behalf of the organisation. She said that South West Community Care would not be here today without the amazing effort put in by the management team and staff. “The other secret to our success is that we have genuine partnerships with our wonderful clients regarding their care. We love what we do and we are going to keep doing it!” said Ms Roach. The next step for South West Community Care is to compete in the national ACSA Aged Care Awards in Melbourne in October.
